Blue Jays add Bo Bichette, Ty France to World Series roster

Mandatory Credit: Steven Bisig-Imagn Images Star shortstop Bo Bichette and first baseman Ty France were added to the Toronto Blue Jays' roster for the World Series on Friday prior to Game 1 against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers.
Bichette, sidelined with a sprained left knee for the past six weeks, will take the roster spot of outfielder Joey Loperfido. Loperfido was added to the roster midway through the American League Championship Series against the Seattle Mariners to replace the injured Anthony Santander.
Bichette is also capable of playing second base or designated hitter. An immediate return to his natural shortstop position might be a reach because of the lateral mobility demanded to excel in that spot and the Dodgers' potent offense. Bichette has not appeared at second base at the major league level but has done so in the minors.
Bichette, 27, is a two-time All-Star who has played all seven of his major league seasons in Toronto. He hit .311 with a .357 on-base percentage, a .483 slugging percentage, 18 homers and 94 RBIs in 139 games in 2025.
His career batting line is .294/.337/.469 with 111 homers and 437 RBIs in 748 games.
France, 31, was added to the roster in place of right-handed reliever Yariel Rodriguez.
France batted .257 with seven homers and 52 RBIs in 138 games this season split between the Minnesota Twins and Blue Jays.
He is a career .262 hitter with 81 homers and 364 RBIs with the San Diego Padres, Mariners, Cincinnati Reds, Twins and Toronto.
